THE STORY
Despite legislation, the illegal trade in live animals and in animal products still flourishes worldwide. Specialist collectors can still get hold of rare and endangered animals and there is traffic in products from turtles' eggs to tiger skins. As a result of this exploitation, many species of animals are now endangered or threatened with extinction. But their rarity only increases the profits made in the trade. "Animal traffic" is a series of five films that tell some of the stories of this illegal trade from the rainforests of Indonesia and South America, or the plains of Africa, to the traders and collectors in Europe and North America.
